Domestic abuse support for the whole family, Joanne’s story, #16days

Our Ruby @ Turnaround team support people who have experienced domestic abuse, offering counselling to manage their emotions and also practical advice and signposting. Whether people want to stay in that relationship or not our experts support them and their families to be safe and happy.  

Just last week, Joanne* who had recently faced the difficult choice to move into a refuge with her son for their safety was donated a TV by a generous PSS person after Shelley, from our Ruby team, made a call-out. Her son has autism and was really missing the routine of playing his video games.  

Joanne said, ‘You don’t realise what difference this is going to make to our lives.’ Sometimes it’s the simple things which make the big stamp on someone’s outlook’. 

 Shelley always aims to give that personal touch to her support and has since sourced TVs for more people who’ve moved from their homes in the run-up to Christmas. 

Thanks to Shelley and our generous PSS staff for giving Joanne and her son this gift.
