Coaching at PSS
What is coaching?
Here’s an intro to coaching from Laura, our head of learning and development.
Coaching is an amazing way to take your career to the next level. We’ve got trained coaches within PSS who are here to help you be even better at what you do. People are matched up with a coach who’s a good fit for them and can support them to develop personally and professionally.
Being coached doesn’t mean you’re bad at your job – far from it! We’ve got people in all different parts of PSS being coached, from our support workers to our team leaders to our senior management team and service administrators. And there’s been some amazing results!
What can coaching help you with?
Coaching is a really unique experience for everyone. It’s tailored around you, your goals for the future and how you want to reach them. You and your coach will come up with a plan that suits you, there’s no set script at all but there are some common themes that coaching can support people with. Coaching could be a great option for you if you’re looking to develop in areas like:
- Being more confident
- Managing others and relationships
- Learning to say ‘no’ in the right way when you need to and being more assertive
- Building better working relationships and communicating in general
- Managing your time better
And these just give a snap-shot of the ways that coaching could benefit you. You can explore whatever it is you think might be holding you back and also open yourself up to figuring that out if you’re not sure just yet. Coaching gives you that space to reflect and try new approaches out.
