Ryan’s supporting the Shoebox Full of Love Appeal for the fourth-year running!

If you’re familiar with PSS then you’ll be no stranger to Ryan, who uses our Making Days service, and his passion for helping people during the festive season.

Ryan is back again for the fourth-year running and is collecting donations on behalf of the Shoebox Full of Love Appeal, a Merseyside charity that gives disadvantaged and homeless people in Merseyside the gift of warm socks, toiletries and food in December.

Ryan’s inspiration

Ryan wants to help as many people as possible across Merseyside. Here he tells us his inspiration for getting involved:

‘I know what it’s like to have nothing. Sometimes life can be cruel, which is why everyone should help everyone. I started collecting donations in 2022 after I was in a car crash. I needed help and I was very grateful to get it. I want to help people who are less fortunate. When I see homeless people my heart breaks. By donating you can do something for other people and your heart will be filled with joy. You can make a difference to people’s lives.’

Ryan’s passion and dedication is a reminder that we’ve all got the power to make a positive impact in our community. By donating to the Shoebox Full of Love Appeal, you’re not just providing essential items – you’re sending a message of hope, love, and solidarity.

Sarah, from Shoebox Full of Love Appeal told us:

‘Shoebox Full of Love has been running for over 10 years, and what started as a small appeal, ran by three volunteers asking for gifts for the homeless in Liverpool, has now expanded to the Wirral, St Helen’s and Southport. We’re looking for hats, socks, gloves and scarves, toiletries and long-dated food items. We’ve also been able to widen the appeal to include Christmas gifts for children too, so any toys or gifts would be much appreciated.

As well as our work with the homeless community, we also work organisations that support people who might be accessing food banks, getting domestic abuse support, or adults and children living in temporary accommodation. It’s an absolute privilege to run the appeal each year and we’re so grateful to everyone at PSS. It’s the absolute highlight of the appeal to come and see Tessa, Ryan and his friends at Making Days. They make the magic of Christmas happen.
From the bottom of our hearts we cannot thank you enough for what you make happen each year. Your contribution is HUGE and we are forever grateful for the impact you make.

Sarah, from the appeal came to visit Ryan at Making Days to collect the donations.
