Bee Happy with PSS!
We’re getting ready to launch a brand-new Bee Happy experience at Dutch Farm, our urban accessible farm in South Liverpool. Not only is it a green, serene space for people we support to get involved in outdoor activities that focus on spending time in nature, looking after our planet, taking care of our wellbeing, but it’s also home to the Dutch Farm beehive.
The hive is managed by dedicated volunteer bee guardians - people who have accessed support on the farm, taken part in our beekeeping courses and now give their time to make sure the hives continue to thrive. They’re also really passionate about sharing their love of the bees and introducing people to the wonderful world of beekeeping.
How bees shape our world
The Bee Happy experience highlights the vital role bees play in our world, offering a firsthand look at how our hives work. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to explore Dutch Farm and meet the awesome volunteers who keep our green, serene space looking tip-top all year round.
In preparation for the launch, we invited Jill, who was our chief exec at the time; Julie, our Chair of Trustees; and fellow trustees Nicola, Isaac, Zack and committee member, Ben.
Bee suits at the ready
After donning their bee suits, everyone was buzzing to get up close to the hives to learn all about our resident pollinators. It was a wonderful session that has left us super excited for the official opening.
