You’re not alone – there’s always someone to listen

Things are tough right now.

Remember that you’re never, ever alone, no-matter how alone you feel. There’s always someone you can talk to about what you’re going through, big or small.

The most important thing is to remember that your mental health is just as important as your physical health. You’re not wasting anyone’s time. Your feelings are valid and you can get the support you need.

Call 999 or go to A&E right away if:

  • you feel like you might harm yourself; or
  • you don’t feel like you can keep yourself or someone else safe.

If you feel like you or someone else need urgent support with your mental health but you don’t feel like it’s an emergency, you can dial 111 and get an urgent GP appointment. Or you can find an urgent mental health helpline in your area through the NHS website for local mental health services.

Free counselling 24/7, 365 days a year for PSS staff

If you’re a member of our PSS team, you can give the lovely people at our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) a call 24/7. The EAP is there to give you advice and support, or just a listening ear, no-matter what it is you’re going through: legal stuff, emotional stuff, financial stuff – pretty much anything. It’s completely confidential; nobody at PSS will ever be told that you’ve called. You can speak to a fully-qualified counsellor any time of the day and night and they’ll be there for you. Give them a ring on 0800 072 0353 or visit www.colleaguesupport.co.uk and enter the code 71743 as your username and password to get access to an online hub of all kinds of help and support.

Helplines that are here to support you

There are lots of helplines out there that are there to support you with your mental health. You can call them whenever you need to. Lots of them are open 24/7, 365 days per year.

There’s a huge list of helplines you can call to support you with what you’re going through here on the NHS website.
