We’ve got offices across Merseyside, North Wales, Lincolnshire, Manchester, Norfolk and Suffolk and the Midlands, where we’re making our stamp. This role will be based across our Women’s Turnaround service in Cheshire and Wales.
What’s our Women’s Turnaround service all about?
Our open-minded Women’s Turnaround team have been supporting female offenders in Merseyside since 2010. Based on the success of the service in delivering positive outcomes, Women’s Turnaround has recently expanded into North Wales and Cheshire. Our team work alongside the probation service and the women to understand the multiple reasons behind their offending behaviours and find ways to reduce their likelihood of reoffending in the future. Women are given the opportunity to access a range of specialist support options from groups to one-to-one support, to remote support through PSS services and partner agencies. This holistic approach supports women with things like: managing emotions, overcoming substance misuse, support with mental health and wellbeing. Women can also be referred to partner agencies for practical support on areas such as housing and employability.
Amanda was signposted to Women’s Turnaround by the drugs service she was using after leaving prison. She met with a Women’s Turnaround project worker who carried out an assessment with her and saw she had multiple needs. Amanda was a heroin user with a child in care, she had witnessed violence, was experiencing a lot of grief and social isolation in her life.
A support plan was created alongside her project worker, and some interventions were put in place to help meet her needs. Amanda was offered counselling and trauma support for her grief as well as support for the ongoing drug use. These were both seen as significant risk factors in her potential choice to reoffend.
After 13 weeks, Amanda had fully engaged with her support plan and was drug free with the support of Turnaround and the drug and alcohol services she was using. Her project worker supports her to have unsupervised visits with her child and she is working to regain custody and have her child returned from care with the support of the service.
What you’ll do as a Women’s Turnaround service coordinator
At PSS we believe that everyone has a part to play in providing people with life-changing possibilities, whether their offering face-to-face support or providing back-office support to our amazing social care teams. As a service coordinator your main responsibility will be in supporting your team to be as consistent and efficient as possible. You’ll be the legs paddling under the surface, making sure that everyone using our service and our partner agencies feel supported and happy. You’ll be a dynamo in organisation and make sure that the team can focus their attention on the people who matter most – those we support.
In a nutshell you’ll look after:
The big picture stuff
Gathering and processing data to show the outcomes that our service is delivering. You’ll work with the management team to recommend and implement changes to work flows and procedures to improve service efficiency and increase productivity. This will be in a fresh area for the service where you have the opportunity to really innovative and spark change.
The person-centred stuff
Support our referral processes in line with the needs of the service. You’ll act as a first point of contact for people we support and professionals, answering phone calls and responding to enquiries. You’ll be expected to really represent us, building and maintain positive, effective professional working relationships with internal and external customers and other stakeholders.
The high precision stuff
You’ll need to have a keen eye for detail, coordinating activities for our teams and the people we support and managing our busy service calendar. Your core focus will be on ensuring our service is running safely by offering systems support to our teams, ensuring that record-keeping is of the highest standard and that all our regulatory requirements are understand and responded to.
What you’ll need:
We’re looking for someone who lives up to our values of being big-hearted, genuine, open-minded, determined and professional in everything they do. A Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration or comparable is essential as well as in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and cracking communication skills. Above all, we need people who are committed to ensuring service excellence with the ultimate goal of improving people’s lives for the better.
