Harriet Michael-Phillips, director of operations

Harriet moved up to Liverpool from Buckinghamshire in 2019 especially to become our director of operations.

She has always had a career in social care, starting from when she worked in a nursing home for older people during the holidays at university. When she graduated, Harriet became a support worker. She worked with adults with learning disabilities and physical support needs. That’s when she realised how much she loves supporting people. For the last 20 years, has worked in all different kinds of varied and challenging roles that have let her do just that.

In the last three years before she came to PSS, Harriet did a real mix of things, including setting up her own social care consultancy business with her husband; providing business manager support for a music academy; and working with Community Circles and wellbeing teams. Before that, she was London director for a charity that provides support to people with learning disabilities and/or autism.

Harriet is mum to three girls and when she’s not busy exploring the outdoors and going on adventures with them and her husband, you can find her knitting up a storm or playing viola.
